Ethical Sourcing Policy

MaxPet is built to improve the lives of animals, and we believe that responsibility extends to the people who make the things we sell. This policy sets out how MaxPet Limited approaches ethical and responsible sourcing across our suppliers and manufacturing partners.

1. Our commitment

We are committed to sourcing the products and services we use in a way that is ethical, lawful and responsible. We have zero tolerance for modern slavery, human trafficking, forced, bonded or involuntary labour, and child labour, in our own operations and anywhere in our supply chain.

2. The UK Modern Slavery Act 2015

We fully support the aims of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. As a growing company, MaxPet Limited currently falls below the £36 million annual turnover threshold at which a business is legally required to publish a statutory slavery and human trafficking statement under section 54 of the Act. Even though it is not yet a legal obligation for us, we choose to hold ourselves to the following principles, and we will publish a full statutory statement if and when we meet that threshold.

3. What we expect from our suppliers and partners

We expect every supplier, manufacturer and partner we work with to:

• comply with all applicable laws, including those on labour, human rights, health and safety, and the environment;
• not use any form of forced, bonded, involuntary or child labour;
• treat their workers fairly and with dignity, pay at least the legal minimum wage, and provide safe and hygienic working conditions;
• respect workers’ freedom of association and their right to raise concerns without fear of reprisal;
• not discriminate on grounds such as race, gender, religion, age, disability or any other protected characteristic; and
• take reasonable steps to ensure these same standards are met by their own suppliers.

4. How we source responsibly

Ethical and human-rights considerations are part of how we choose and work with partners, alongside quality, safety and cost. We favour partners who can demonstrate responsible and transparent practices, and we take steps that are reasonable and proportionate to our size to understand the conditions in which our products are made. As MaxPet grows, we will strengthen our due diligence, checks and supplier expectations accordingly.

5. Raising a concern

If you believe that any product or service connected with MaxPet has been produced in conditions that breach this policy, please tell us at [email protected]. We take every such report seriously, will investigate, and will act where a concern is substantiated — including ending relationships with partners who will not meet these standards.

6. Review

We review this policy regularly and will update it as our operations and supply chain develop. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
