Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are the agreement between you and us for your use of MaxPet — the MaxPet app and the website at maxpet.co.uk (together, the “Service”). Please read them, and keep a copy. By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. They should be read together with our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by MaxPet Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17336437, whose registered office is at 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at [email protected].

2. What MaxPet is — and what it is not

MaxPet is a record-keeping and wellness-information tool. It helps you record your pet’s day-to-day information — weight, food, medication, activity, symptoms and similar — and presents general wellness information based on what you enter, such as a wellness score, an estimated ideal weight, feeding estimates and trend indicators, drawn from published methods.

MaxPet is not veterinary advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional veterinary examination or judgement. The figures it shows are informational estimates to help you have better-informed conversations with your vet — not clinical determinations. Always speak to your vet about your pet’s health, and never delay seeking veterinary help because of anything in the app. In an emergency, contact your vet immediately.

3. Your account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 to create an account, and you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Please give accurate information and keep it up to date. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.

4. Fees and optional subscriptions

MaxPet is free to use, and the core service always will be. Recording your pet’s information, your pet’s records, the wellness features and sharing with your care team are, and will remain, free. Everything that is free today stays free — we will never move an existing feature behind a paywall.

We may in future offer optional paid extras — in particular, a subscription for accessory devices that automate the logging for you, so you don’t have to enter everything by hand. A subscription would only ever be for a genuinely new optional extra like this — never a charge for something MaxPet already gives you for free. It is entirely optional: the free service does not depend on it, and you never have to buy anything to keep using MaxPet.

And if we do offer such a subscription, we are committed to pricing it as low as we possibly can, so that it is accessible to as many pets as possible.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the information, notes and photos you add (“Your Content”). You grant us the licence we need to host, store, process and display Your Content only to provide the Service to you and the people you invite, and to operate, secure and improve it. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to add it — including any other person’s details you add when inviting them to a care team.

6. Sharing and your care team

You control who you invite to a pet’s care team and what they can do, based on the role you give them. People you invite can see the records for that pet according to the access you grant, and you can change or remove access at any time.

7. Acceptable use

Please use the Service lawfully and reasonably, and with respect for other people and for animals. You agree not to:

If you come across content or behaviour that breaks these rules, please tell us at [email protected] so we can look into it. Where something does break them, we will respond in a way that is proportionate to what has happened — for example removing content, giving a warning, or suspending or ending access (see section 12) — and if you think we have got a decision wrong, you can ask us to review it at the same address.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but we provide it on an “as available” basis and cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, or release updates, to keep it working, secure and improving. If we ever plan to stop the Service, we will give reasonable notice where we can so you can export your data first. We may update these Terms from time to time; the current version is the one on this page, and we will take reasonable steps to tell you about material changes.

9. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which cannot be excluded or limited. If you buy a paid subscription or a physical device from us at a distance, you generally have the right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 — we will explain how before you buy. Some exceptions apply (for example, digital content you have started to use with your consent, or a device that has been used beyond what is needed to inspect it).

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on trusted third parties to work — for example Apple and Google for optional sign-in, Apple’s Push Notification service for reminders, and a weather provider for local conditions. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. How we handle your data with these providers is explained in our Privacy Notice. If you use the MaxPet app from the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard terms also apply to your use of the app on your device.

11. Our responsibility to you

We provide the Service using reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under law. Subject to that, and because MaxPet is a record-keeping and information tool rather than veterinary advice, we are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or that arises from relying on the Service for a veterinary or health decision that should be made with your vet (see section 2), or from events outside our reasonable control.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account) or by contacting us. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms, or where we must for legal or security reasons. You can export your data before you go.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.

14. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms, contact us at [email protected].

These Terms are written in good faith to reflect the law of England and Wales. They are not legal advice; if you need advice on your specific circumstances you should consult a solicitor.
